Ski Jump
Norway has been flinging people off snowy ramps since the 1800s. Here the only thing that matters is the moment you push off: watch the gauge swing, catch it on the bright strip, and soar.
The game
Purse: 0 coins
Each jump costs 20 coins.
Keyboard: press Space or Enter to start, and again to jump.
Start the run, then jump when the needle crosses the red strip.
How to play
- Press Start the run. Twenty coins leave your purse and the needle starts swinging along the gauge.
- Press Jump! (or Space or Enter) to take off. The needle stops where it is.
- The closer the needle is to the centre of the red strip, the further you fly. Each step away from it costs 1.5 metres.
- Your distance falls into one of the bands below, and that band decides what comes back to your purse.
This is a game of timing rather than luck, so it does need a quick eye. The needle sweeps from one end to the other and back in just over a second.
How it pays
| Distance | Band | Coins back |
|---|---|---|
| 129 m or more | Near perfect | 80 |
| 121 to 128.5 m | Long jump | 30 |
| 110 to 120.5 m | Solid jump | 20 stake back, not a win |
| 95 to 109.5 m | Short of the K-line | 10 |
| Under 95 m | Early landing | 0 |
Distances are rounded to the nearest half metre. Unlike the other games on the trail, there is no hidden draw here: what you get depends only on where the needle stands when you press. The needle keeps the same pace all the way, so practice really does help.
Coins on Norske Spill are virtual. They have no cash value, cannot be bought or cashed out, and this game is for adults aged 18 and over. When a round hands back exactly what it cost, that is your stake returned, not a win.
